About Robert J. Wilkins IV

Robert J. Wilkins IV founded Credit1Solutions in 2006 after recognizing a critical gap in the credit-education industry: most consumers were being sold template dispute letters with no follow-through when bureaus or furnishers failed to investigate. His early career included mentorship inside TransUnion, where he gained working knowledge of credit-reporting systems, dispute workflows, and consumer-rights law.

Under his leadership, Credit1Solutions has grown to serve more than 510,000 families nationwide, earned BBB A+ accreditation, and built an in-house team of FICO-certified credit education specialists working alongside consumer-protection attorneys. Robert is also a Licensed Realtor (#221716) in Kentucky and writes the operator-perspective commentary published on the company blog.

Robert's contributions to this site focus on real-world workflow examples — what a credit specialist actually does when a tradeline comes back "verified" without supporting documentation, how attorney escalation is triggered, and what outcomes clients can realistically expect at each stage.

Your Legal Rights

Consumers are protected by several federal laws when dealing with credit reporting issues related to credit education:

  • Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) — 15 U.S.C. §1681: Requires credit bureaus to maintain accurate information and investigate disputes within 30 days. Consumers can dispute inaccurate items directly with bureaus or furnishers.
  • Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) — 15 U.S.C. §1692: Prohibits abusive, deceptive, and unfair debt collection practices. Collectors must validate debts upon request.
  • Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA) — 15 U.S.C. §1679: Regulates credit repair companies and protects consumers from deceptive practices.

You may file complaints with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
